I would like to see Peterborough as a vibrant, interesting city with a university that brings an additional dimension to what already exists. Peterborough needs the additional perspective that students (albeit short-term residents) bring.
One thing you'd like to change about the place?
I would like to see a much wider variety of cultural venues; film, music and live entertainment venues. I currently travel to Stamford and other smaller towns outside Peterborough for these.
What areas of the Citizen Power project are you most interested in?
Area Based Curriculum
Arts and Social Change
What's your favourite place to eat in Peterborough?
At home
Favourite place to go?
The Brewery Tap
If a Martian came to Peterborough, what would you show him/her/it to explain what the place was about?
If a Martian came to Peterborough I would but him/her/it a cup of coffee and sit at a pavement cafe in Bridge Street and watch my world go by.
Tell us some more about yourself
I am 60 years old and have lived in Peterborough all my life, being born in Thorpe Hall and educated at Manor House Street Infants, Dogsthorpe Infants and Junior, St Thomas More School and Deacons School for Boys.
I have taught in Peterborough since 1972 and have been a primary headteacher. I last worked as the Behaviour & Attendance and SEAL (Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning) consultant for Peterborough City Council. I accepted voluntary redundancy early in 2011.
I am married with two children and three grandchildren, all of whom live in Peterborough.
I enjoy music, cycling, walking and going to the Brewery Tap for lively discussion (amongst other things). I write and perform poetry for both children and adults and was Peterborough’s first poet laureate in 1998.
I retired from full-time work in September 2011 and now plan to explore my home city even more. I am a member of Peterborough Civic Society and we are planning and preparing a book entitled 'Peterborough In Detail' which will look at architectural detail in and around the city. Look out for further details!

Hello Toby
Great picture and profile, very informative.
In your role with the LEA would you be interested in having a chat about getting some education projects into schools - I am doing some work for Eastern Angles Theatre Company and we have a schools project about "Home" and what that means that might be of interest...
Thanks
Kate
