Citizen Power: Peterborough

The Green Backyard, which is a shining example of what happens when local people are inspired to get involved, and which has helped and inspired many Peterborough citizens to make changes to their lives that make Peterborough a happier and more sustainable city, is now threatened with eviction by Peterborough city council, which would like to sell the land for development, and move the project to a smaller and less suitable site at Railworld. Concerned friends of GBY have started a campaign to persuade the council to change its mind and abandon a policy which would make a mockery of the city's environmental capital aspirations.
In just two days our online petition has gathered over five hundred signatures. Many of the signers have left comments explaining just how much the project means to them.

I'd be grateful if Citizen power members could help us by signing the petition and sharing it on facebook, twitter etc.

The Green Backyard is also on Project Dirt and on facebook

You can watch a short film about GBY by Daryl Mulvihill on Vimeo.
